Reviewed by Aindrea A beautifully written and well-researched book, uniting multiple perspectives across different centuries around one central figure: Lexington, the greatest American racehorse and stud. A powerful commentary on systemic racism in America and the overlooked significant contribution of people of colour in equestrian realms (and let’s face it, all realms). I cried, I hoped, I cheered and I thought deeply while reading this book and I am recommending it to everyone I know who loves books or horses. I can’t wait to read more from Brooks, who I had never encountered before.
