Reviewed by Carlos R. DiazThis is the first novel I've read by Walter Mosley, the creator of Easy Rawlins. In this piece, Debbie Dare, a porn star, wants to retire and do something else with her life. However, her producers and handlers don't want her to give up her day job just yet. She navigates the seedy and tony side of LA, a place where dreams come true and die painfully, often times in the same day. I liked the protagonist—a gorgeous black woman with striking blue eyes—and the sharp dialogue; however, the climax (pun fully intended) was just meh. That is all.
