And the one man I swore by all Olympus I would destroy.*A scorchingly hot modern retelling of Aphrodite and Hephaestus (and Pandora and Adonis).*Aphrodite has never flinched at getting her perfectly manicured hands dirty, and she's not about to start now―even if that means marrying Olympus's enemy number one, the new Hephaestus. She has a wicked plan to keep her deadly new husband off-balance, seducing the one person he seems to care about most in this world: Pandora, a woman as beautiful as she is sweet. Two can play the seduction game, however, and Hephaestus is all too happy to put his new wife in her place. Her ex, Adonis, seems like he'll do the trick. It doesn't hurt that he's gorgeous in the way of fallen angels, either. The only problem with using seduction as a weapon? Hearts are all too quick to get involved. With Hephaestus and Aphrodite trading venomous strikes that feel a whole lot like foreplay, lines become blurred and emotions entangled. But a broken heart may be the least of their worries. With unrest in Olympus reaching new heights, these bedroom games may have deadly consequences for themselves, their city, and everyone they've come to love."Deliciously inventive…Red-hot."―Publishers Weekly STARRED Review for Neon Gods"I get shivers just thinking of their interactions. 🫧 #CruelSeduction is really easy to get into. The pages fly by, making this a quick and more or less enjoying read📚 The spice delivered🔥 The chemistry between the characters was strong, and the romance was kind fun🤪 The biggest “highlight” was definitely Hephaestus⚒️ His character growth throughout the book was really good and I loved seeing him become more confident and finally embrace what he wanted instead of constantly putting others first😌 That said, I still can’t say I’m a fan of the marriage of convenience trope🖇️ It’s just not one that usually works for me, and unfortunately this book didn’t change my mind. I also continue to struggle a little with the worldbuilding - I still don’t fully understand how the city works or what all of its political rules actually are😅 At times everything felt a bit vague, making certain conflicts more confusing than suspenseful😫 Another issue for me was the pacing. I kept waiting for something major to happen, but much of the story felt like characters talking and navigating politics without a lot of forward momentum🫣 There were definitely entertaining moments, but overall the plot felt a little messy and, at times, surprisingly slow… . . . . .
