We are back in Emberfall! This time we don't follow Harper and Rhen, but the former guardsman Grey, who has fled the castle because of his daunting secret. The second protagonist is Lia Mara, the firstborn of Queen Karis Luran of Sylh Shallow. Both meet in Ironrose Castle as prisoners, which leads to the beginning of a long journey to Lia’s homeland. I loved this volume as much as the first. Since Grey was my favorite character, I was delighted when I realized this book was about him.^^ I found Princess Lia Mara very endearing. She’s sweet, emotional, has a lot of empathy and is not like most other power-seeking fantasy protagonists. She’s more reserved and quiet, which I loved (and she’s reading smutt!!
