William Mitchell

William Mitchell ist Wirtschaftswissenschaftler und Professor. Er war Direktor des Centre of Full Employment and Equity (CofFEE) an der University of Newcastle in Australien sowie Docent Professor für Global Political Economy an der Universität Helsinki und Gastprofessor an der Universität Kyōto. Mitchell gilt als einer der Mitbegründer der Modern Monetary Theory (MMT). Zu seinen Büchern zählen »Eurozone Dystopia« (2015), »Reclaiming the State« (2017) und – gemeinsam mit L. Randall Wray und Martin Watts – »Macroeconomics« (2019). Seine Forschungsgebiete umfassen unter anderem Makroökonomie, Arbeitsmarkt- und Regionalökonomie sowie ökonometrische Modellierung und wirtschaftliche Entwicklung.
