Sheldon Pollock war Arvind Raghunathan Professor für Sanskrit und Südasienstudien an der Columbia University sowie Herausgeber der Murty Classical Library of India bei Harvard University Press. Zu seinen Veröffentlichungen zählen unter anderem „Literary Cultures in History“ (2003), „The Language of the Gods in the World of Men“ (2006) und „World Philology“ (2015).
