Rezension von Salome Ich fand den Schreibstil und Phoebe die Protagonistin sehr unterhaltsam. Besonders gefallen hat mir auch die Thematisierung von Infertiltät, platonischen Beziehungen und mentaler Gesundheit. Viele Charaktere haben im Laufe des Buches eine angenehme Entwicklung durchgemacht. Es hätte in der Mitte ein bisschen gekürzt werden können und nicht so heteronormativ sein können meiner Meinung nach, ansonsten kann ichs als leichte Lektüre empfehlen:)
Rezension von WacojanineThe moment I finished the final chapter, I felt conflicted about how I was supposed to feel. I can’t call it a bad book, but it didn’t quite feel phenomenal to me either. It was a slow-paced read, and while I wouldn’t pick it up again, there’s something about the main character, Phoebe, that stayed with me. What I appreciated most was her journey—how she begins by struggling to express what she truly feels about different parts of her life, and how she gradually forms meaningful connections with people she has only just met, all while remaining true to herself. Watching her character evolve tugged at my heartstrings , especially as she transforms from someone determined to give up into someone willing to try, to keep going, and to open herself up to possibility. I also loved how the author describes scenes from the book; I could picture myself standing on Phoebe’s balcony, breathing in the seaside air and listening to the steady rhythm of the waves. Overall, I did enjoy reading The Wedding People. Would I recommend it? Maybe—but it’s the kind of book that will likely resonate more with some readers than others.
