So, this book is about Hannah, a lonely woman with low self confidence who gets obsessed with a murder case and starts to write letters to the accused, incarcerated defendant. Although, it was a thrilling book and it tries to handle the topic of hybristophilia, the author clearly fails to put much reflection and critical thinking about this topic. I get the idea of Hannah as a character but it’s also possible to write about such topics in a more critical way? The book also totally trivialises the sensitive topic of sexual assault and emotional manipulation.

Rezension von MichelleAm Anfang hat es sich echt gezogen und ich habe mit dem Gedanken gespielt das Buch abzubrechen. Dann hat die Story aber doch an Spannung zugenommen, sodass ich den letzten Teil in einem durchgelesen habe. War auf jeden Fall eine außergewöhnliche Story 😂 aber der Plot Twist war keine Überraschung für mich. Das Bauch konnte mich unterhalten, aber war kein Highlight sondern eher einfach Okay für Zwischendurch.
Rezension von Maria Ich hab so gut wie jede Emotion während des Lesens gefühlt. Sehr gutes Buch. Auch wenn man kurz vor Ende denkt, man wüsste was passiert, bleibt es bis zur letzten Seiten spannend. Hannah ist ein Charakter mit dem man sich leicht identifizieren kann, andrerseits aber auch gar nichts mit ihren Aktionen anfangen kann. Coryell ist mit diesem Buch ein phänomenaler Debütroman gelungen.
