This book made me realize that maybe I'm a terrible person :D Everybody in this is awful. I understand the nuance, but I found myself rooting against the characters that the author <i>very clearly</i> wants us to root for. Maybe don't steal a child from their surrogate parents? Maybe don't abandon a baby and then demand to have it back, only to end up stealing it anyway? I'm terrible, I know, but I was siding with the adoptive and surrogate parents the entire time. The writing's okay, but there's WAY too much exposition and repetition in this; it's almost overwritten. Overall, an okay read. I kept waiting for some big twist or revelation towards the end that never came.
