Rezension von ToniIch war von klein auf schon immer ein riesiger Fan vom Stop-Motion-Film, verglichen damit, habe ich das Buch erst realtiv spät gelesen. Überrascht hat mich, dass Wybie eine reine Erfindung für den Film war; vermutlich um Coralines innere Monologe nach außen zu tragen. In das Buch hätte die Figur von Wybie aber bestimmt auch sehr gut gepasst. Ansonsten hat das Buch große Ähnlichkeit mit dem Film, wodurch ich mich schon fast "wie zu Hause" gefühlt habe. Ich habe nie mitgezählt, aber den Film habe ich einige Male gesehen ... also, sehr oft. Der Schreibstil von Neil Gaiman ist einfach grandios. Er schafft es, ein Kinderbuch so darzulegen, dass man sich auch als erwachsene Person gruselt und mitfiebert. Außerdem gibt es Anlass noch tiefer in die Lore einsteigen zu wollen - so haben Fans des Buches und des Films unheimlich viele "Did you know?"-Videos und Fun Facts veröffentlicht und wahrscheinlich jeder hat schon "Beldam" und deren Herkunft gegoogelt. Da ist es sehr leicht in ein richtiges rabbit hole an Urban Legends abzutauchen. Aber, da dieses Buch ja eigentlich an Kinder gerichtet ist: Ich weiß, dass ich mit 11 Jahren (zumindest den Film) nicht so gruselig fand wie meine Klassenkameraden. Jedem Kind würde ich es nicht empfehlen, aber auf jeden Fall denen, die schon etwas hartgesotten sind und damit umgehen können. Sprichwort Albträume. Ein wirklich sehr gutes Buch! Einfach schaurig schön.

Rezension von johanna4.5 ⭐️ This book was so different from the movie and I was severely scared by the scene with the father in the basement. First of all, the writing style was really good. I liked how the feelings of Coraline were described, even though this was in 3rd person. I think this book definitely deserves more hype. I didn’t expect so much but I have always loved the movie. But omg, even though this book was so short, I really LOVED it. I would recommend it to everyone on this planet if I could, so go and read this book ASAP. I know, I might sound like a history teacher rn but even though I didn’t pay crazy much attention to any imagery or literary devices, this book has a message. I would say it’s that you should appreciate what you have and not take it for granted. Also, this was kinda like a modern fairytale and I really liked that. All in all, this is the perfect book to start the spooky season, just like I did. The vibes in this book are rainy, dark and kinda suppressing (idk how to describe it otherwise). So now, go and read this book before I come to your house and force you to read these 160 pages of a masterpiece.
