Rezension von CarlaI enjoyed the part where Marilyn expressed her thoughts and feeling about death. the idea of writing a book together before she dies is unique and certainly difficult. The love story they tell in the book is a perfect love story, which sounds a bit cheesy and unrealistic. Reaching the end of the book I felt mix feeling about Irvin and how he dealt with grief. I am aware that we all grief differently, for me the last pages were not necessary.
Rezension von Fanni DunaiIt is a book very hard to read, because you have to face Death. Our biggest fear. We can follow, how life fades out from a beautiful soul. It is really overwhelming. The soul purpose of this book to show people how Irv lived through the loss of his forever-only love after many many years of marriage. They are old and both are very ill, but Marilyn has cancer, and nothing helps. She decides to take her own life with doctor assistance, because she just can not bare the pain. So we can follow through this suffering, and making the hardest decision ever, and then after her death, the suffering of her husband. We can seee how much person loved this little woman, and I was thinking like I don’t even know as much person. She had a very beautiful life, and to die like this, at the very end, at 88 years old, in my opinion, the best death what can happen to a person (because she had a beautiful and meaningful life, with no regrets), but on the other hand, also the worse, because she has to go through huge suffering, like torture, which nobody wants to live through. I would also rather choose death over torture. I can relate to her on many things. On the other hand this book can give a lot, it has a lot of very good thought, and quotes from Philosophers and psychologists. It was overall nice to read.
