Rezension von Kathrin Okay, listen. Is this a literary masterpiece? No. Does it try to be one? Also no. Is the dialogue a little bit over the top sometimes? Yes. But is this book super fun to read? Absolutely yes! Calladia Cunnington is thrown in an action packed adventure with her enemy of just Yesterday, Astorath of the nine. This set up alone is promising for a lot of conflict and banter. I most definitely enjoyed the relationship dynamic between Calladia and Astorath a lot more than the one of Mariel and Oz from the first book. They feel like a pairing on eye level and I found their competiton based romance and how they support each other very adoring. I also found Calladias tough relationship with her mother better executed than the one of Mariel and her mother. But there are still a lot of characters who are very over the top and basically just a trope in humam form. Aside from one dimensional side characters the biggest weakness of this book is the plotting and I mean this in the most positive way. The plot is there to support the romance and it's clearly not the authors main priority but I felt like the ending was rushed a little bit and everything ended to abruptly. Overall I enjoyed this book very much and it was a nice way to pass some time. I am not a spice connoisseur but I enjoyed it in this book.
