Reviewed by DiriLilaluI was really invested in the beginning, but that interest faded at about half of the book. The relationship between the two main characters could be described as follows: Him: I want you because you're so damn unique. Being a tiny bit sassy and sometimes not agreeing with me is something that I've NEVER experienced in a woman before Her: I want you but you're a vampire who's powerful. Also, I'm an INDEPENDENT woman, so I definitely won't fall prey to a dominant guy cause they, without exception, threaten my INDEPENDENCE as a woman Yeah, the topic of strong, independent women was thrown into the discussion like a curveball. It came out of nowhere, and I'm not exaggerating. There was no previous mention of it, no past connections to a struggle, just a big old "women are suppressed by men" and it clung to the story like a tick. No one asked for it (at least I didn't). It surely could've been brought in smoother, less in your face, you know. It didn't take 5 repetitious conversations to know that the author had an issue with the topic. Apart from that glaring issue I had, I didn't feel like the heroine was as strong as she was described. Her power level felt very meh. At least up to the... I can't remember the name... that magical prison spell thingy. Vampires are portrayed as über powerful, but a few seconds in the sun and they're a pile of ash. Doesn't seem to be too hard to kill one to me. The mysterious benefactor and the fmc being sth whatever plottwisty stuff she is (that btw also came out of nowhere) together with the pointless relationship drama didn't make me curious enough to keep reading past 70%
