Rezension von Lea-Sophie„When the moon hatched“ ist der Auftaktband der Moonfall-Reihe. Da das Buch im Deutschen über 800 Seiten hat und keine Zusammenfassung der Komplexität der Geschichte gerecht wird, sage ich nur so viel: Raeve, eine Kämpferin der Rebellion, wird nach dem Tod ihrer besten Freundin von Rachedurst angetrieben und landet schließlich in einem berüchtigten Gefängnis. Dort begegnet sie dem mächtigen Herrscher Kaan, dessen Schicksal auf unerwartete Weise mit ihrem verwoben ist – und der sie in einen uralten Konflikt hineinzieht. Grundsätzlich fand ich die Geschichte sehr besonders, das Worldbuilding war anders als alles, was ich bisher gelesen habe und das Setting mit den verschiedenen „Ländern“ und den verschiedenen darin lebenden Drachenarten fand ich ebenfalls sehr unique. Unsere Protagonistin Raeve mochte ich sehr. Sie ist unfassbar witzig und hat eine Schlagfertigkeit, die mich häufig zum Lachen gebracht hat. In der Mitte des Buches hatte die Geschichte meiner Meinung nach ihre Längen und zum Ende hin wurde es dann noch einmal richtig crazy, sodass ich jetzt schon interessiert daran bin, wie es weitergeht. Allerdings muss ich sagen, dass ich bei diesem Buch einen entscheidenden Fehler gemacht habe: Ich habe es nicht am Stück gelesen und das hat mich komplett rausgebracht. Das Worldbuilding in diesem Buch ist komplex, weil es viele verschiedene Begriffe gibt, die so nur in dieser Geschichte existieren. Es gibt verschiedene POVs und auch sehr viele Charaktere, die dann teilweise auch noch auf verschiedene Arten miteinander verwandt sind. Wenn man zwischendurch was anderes liest, kann man es meiner Meinung nach nicht zu 100% genießen und auch nicht verstehen, weshalb mir das Buch im Endeffekt nicht so gefallen hat, wie es vielleicht könnte.

Rezension von AnastasiaI’m obsessed!! Ich bin absolut begeistert von der Story, den Charakteren und dem World Building. Ich habe mich super schnell in der Welt zurecht gefunden und konnte den Roman gar nicht mehr aus der Hand legen. Das Pacing war mir zwischenzeitlich teilweise zu langsam, teilweise zu schnell, ansonsten aber 5 von 5. Kann den nächsten Band gar nicht abwarten!
