Rezension von ZolandaThis was so good. I really loved the whole world and all the characters. Raeve our FMC is so fierce I can’t wait to see what awaits her in the next book. Kaan is just to die for. But the ending was brutal and I am so glad book two is out in three weeks.
Rezension von Lina2,5 Stars There are some very very nice scenes in this book. If the whole book would stick to the level it has in the beginning, this would be a 5-star read. Sadly, it is not. This book is about the FMC. That’s it. Don’t expect a bigger story. She‘s the story. Other characters, even though some have their own pov, feel rather flatly written (looking at you, Veya). As a reader it‘s kinda hard to attach to them emotionally since there is barely anything known about them. Also the FMC‘s character sometimes acts a bit incoherent with her own personality, which really drew me off. The romance just gets thrown at you as a given fact and you have to accept it while the spice is rather cringe at some points, and if you ask me it would do better without. The world is super complex and the beginning promises such a rich and beautiful worldbuilding, but in the end you don’t really get to know the world since the focus is basically only the FMC‘s character and not anything outside of her field of vision. On top of it, often things/words/names just get dropped like the reader would know what it is supposed to be, with no further explanation. I think it‘s on purpose to show how „natural“ this world is to the characters and therefore they don’t feel the need to think about this thing/word/name, but it‘s just a bit annoying as a reader who wants to get to know this world. Oh and there are dragons but they are so on the side that you struggle to build a connection with them, they just get used like taxis and are apparently an important world building piece, but for some reason we have to believe they just have the deepest connection to their riders because we don’t get a lot of insight into that. Towards the end we got a little bit more about that, but still not satisfying at all.
