We Who Will Die
von Stacia Stark
In exchange for her brother's life, Arvelle must enter the Sundering -- a deadly competition where the winners are chosen for the Imperius -- the emperor's elite guard. It's a dangerous task made even worse when she attracts the attention of the same ruthless vampire who shattered her heart six years ago. With elite gladians targeting her in the lethal arena, and an assassin picking the competitors off one-by-one, Arvella has no choice but to ally with the man who once betrayed her. The man who has since become even more implacable, colder and merciless.

I really liked the chemistry between the main characters. I haven’t figured out what the tropes are (second chance, hater to lovers, love triangle?) but I liked it. The story isn’t something new to the genre, that’s why I sometimes struggled to continue with reading. But all in one it’s a good Romantasy Book ✨
it's a solid start as a first book of a series but I personally think it's overhyped. A map and a glossary could have helped for the readers experience. it's got some trials and competition but again, I found the description of the events lacking. there's one main mmc-fmc interaction but the mmc is giving me extreme dain aetos vibes and it's to be expected that the mmc will change and create some drama. so all in all, it's OK but I've read better books containing trials and magic systems. Will continue with the series in hopes that it gets better
