Ein bunter Ritt durch eine Welt die ihre Geheimnisse auch am Ende nicht alle preis gibt.
This book had me hooked, especially from the middle towards the end!! All the plots AND THE WORLD BUILDING?? So good. Definitely had some twists I did NOT see coming! I did have some issues with the very ending feeling a bit rushed and unsatisfying to me but I heard there’s a sequel coming out? Regardless 4.75 stars cause the rest was so good!!
⭐ 4,5/5 I never expected a standalone novel to have such a complex and well-thought-out magic system. Brandon Sanderson has surprised me once again, and I am realising more and more that he is becoming one of my favourite authors of all time. The characters are wonderfully crafted, and the plot twists had me genuinely angry at times, in the best possible way. After reading the first 30 pages at a relaxed pace over the course of a week, I simply could not put the book down. I devoured the remaining 700 pages in just two days. It completely pulled me in and would not let go. I'm only deducting half a point because I didn't feel as deeply connected to the characters as I did in Mistborn. This is probably because it is a single, self-contained story, whereas with a multi-book series, you spend much more time with the characters. Overall, Warbreaker was a fantastic reading experience. I am already looking forward to discovering more of Sanderson’s works and diving deeper into the fascinating Cosmere universe.
Tendenz eher 3 als 5. Pacing war ein bisschen daneben.
Love this book!! First, I want to mention characters: well written, deep, grey, loveable, hateable, reasonable, mysterieous. Great relationships between characters full of love, friendship and decieving. Different motives come together and clash against. Second comes the worldbuilding and magic system: this is something that Brandon Sanderson never really dissapoints in. I really love this magic system and its complexity and what the characters do with it. It never feels unnaturally balanced or overpowered. And there is a mystery to it with not everything being explored. The world itself and its nations felt very real and natural. Last, there ist the plot to honor: you get a direction and a streamline from the first page on with quite a few twists and turns along the way, that I didn't see coming. There is great motivation for the characters and suspense in the end. I feel sad that I get to the point, where there are no new Sanderson/Cosmere Books and I'm about to start the waiting game for the next volumes from his different series.
