Rezension von keni initially thought i would be far too overwhelmed with sontag that i wouldn’t enjoy reading her, but i am so wrong in that regard. complex thoughts demand certain complexities of expression, and sontag has it in spades. in the sense that her sentences are clear, concise, and illuminating. as if nearly every sentence holds an undeniable truth. particularly enjoyed her essay on artaud because of how i can use it as research (re: theatre). my favourite essay is the title essay. it talks about walter benjamin and his saturnine tendencies, his propensity towards melancholia, and his obsession with the material and the miniature. sontag is just an overall thought-provoking writer and i look forward to reading more of her.
