Reviewed by JuliaZusammen mit Nausicaa entwickelt Myazaki diese Graphic Novel über das Überleben in Mangel. Was braucht ein*e Held*in, um zu überdauern: Mut, Intuition, Nächstenliebe, Sturköpfigkeit. Viele Ghibli-Figuren zeichnen sich in diesem Frühwerk bereits ab, ebenso die großen Themen und die rätselhaften Atmosphären. Angelehnt an eine tibetische Sage lässt Shuna vielleicht weniger Spielraum, um komplexe, liebenswerte Figuren zu entwickeln, entfaltet aber eine soghafte Ästhetik, die sich in seinen Filmen tausendfach erfüllen wird.
