Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief
von Rick Riordan
Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school... again. And that's the least of his troubles. Lately, mythological monsters and the gods of Mount Olympus seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. And worse, he's angered a few of them. Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Now Percy and his friends have just ten days to find and return Zeus's stolen property and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

I just reread this after reading both series and it just hits so much more and different
Percy Jackson - still unbeaten! Ich liebe griechische Mythologie und diese Umsetzung von Rick Riordan bleibt in seiner Verbindung von Witz und Action einzigartig und ist einfach unschlagbar.
⭐️5 I made the mistake of watching the films before I’d even picked up the book around 6 years ago. The films are obviously terribly inaccurate to the books but I do enjoy the films as stand alone films, as though they had their own universe. Obviously the PJO series came out earlier this year and I was immediately hooked if i wasn’t already. Even the series slightly differs from the book but not in the huge instances that the movies did. Even though the book had a perfect plot, i feel that the changes that the series made fit the plot in their own way. I am interested to see if they make any more changes in the series (apart from creating an entirely new character for season 2) and if it will end up differing from the book at the very end of the Last Olympian (which would be season 5). Obviously this book was amazing. The jokes perfectly portrayed a 12 year olds humour and the fight scenes were easy to read and didn’t have any confusing terminology as i am not a swordsman. The characters were perfect and i have to mention that Grover is joint with Percy in being my favourite character purely due to him being half goat and being adorable. I am happy that Annabeth was able to try with her father once more at the end and I’m very glad that Sally got rid of Gabe and has enrolled at nyu and bought a new apartment for her and Percy. Overall, it is a reread worthy book and once I finish the series I will definitely be picking up the Chalice of the gods.
I really liked it. Riordan's language was funny to read, I especially loved the chapter titles. Also I loved the presentation of Greek mythology, it's adaption to modern times, the whole concept and I'm looking forward to reading ALL the books. Sometimes I was slightly annoyed by the kids' stupidity, but well they're 12 years old, so whatever. Additionally most plot twists were predictable for me, but then again the main target audience are probably 10-14 year olds.
