I'll try to keep my review short 'n sweet that time. I promise So let's kick this review off by simply saying how much I loved pretty much every tini tiny bit about this book.  What really got me though, was the tension between Gwen and Alex. Up until now, I've never considered the tension on the pages as a relevant part of my reading experience. However, I was kinda obsessing exactly over this particular aspect right away from the page one. For real. I haven't been as attached to a story in a while and constantly felt the urge to pick it back up. (And us reading girlies know, that that's the best feeling ever). Julie Soto truly excelled in transmitting the emotions from the page straight to us readers. What else did I appreciated about this book though?  Firstly, NYC was implemented really well as a setting (judged by someone who's never been there haha) and I could feel this "city vibe" while reading. With the train rides and everything. Secondly, the classic music part. Up until now I've neven been in touch with this kind of trope. Hence it's dominant role was like a breath of fresh air in this classic romance tropes universe I'm usually in. After a while I also started listening to classic to level up the vibe even more. And oh boy... it truly did. So please do yourself a favor and look up the "Not Another Love Song" playlist on Spotify.  Likewise, everything about this book felt realistic to me. The plot, the dynamic and relationships between the charcter, the reactions to the things happening. I didn't even mind the (obligatory) third act breakup (that much). Well, that's it. I'll wrap my review up at this point to stay true to my premise from the beginning. Love, Eva

This isn’t a book I would usually like … but let me tell you I devoured it. I couldn’t stop reading it. The writing style wasn’t perfect aswell as the storyline. But I connected to the characters and enjoyed reading it. Sometimes a book doesn’t need to be perfect to be right for you. It was simple and fast paced - exactly what I wanted at that moment. I will definitely read more books by this author. And omg the cover is so beautiful

4,5 / 5 I don’t know what Julie puts in her books, but I hope she never stops! I read Forget Me Not almost a year ago to the day and was therefore more than excited for Julie’s new book! Not Another Love Song felt (different) compared to Forget Me Not, not only in the way it was structured (which was really on theme) but also the whole tone throughout the book felt more serious. I cannot speak for the accuracy of portraying an orchestra or the logistics of such, but I definitely enjoyed the music-heavy setting. Some minor things that I’m not 100% happy about: Anything and everything regarding Ava’s & Nathan’s marriage is just mind blowing to me. Especially when I think about all the on page situations where Ava seemingly decided to just not intervene when it was absolutely necessary and basically stop whatever Nathan was doing and saying right there and then? How ? In the same vein, the reason for Mabel & Ava’s fight was hovering over the story up until very late, and almost the end, of the book, which I understand to a certain degree, but would have loved to have been handled slightly differently. Extra bonus points for the Forget Me Not cameos! Absolutely loved those! Already really excited for Julie’s next book! Thank you to Forever for providing this book for review via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
