I looked forward to a funny autobiography with lots of hilarious insides in Showbusiness. But what I found were lots and lots of pages with self deprivation (and yes I know being chubbier than Hollywood clique is tough and comical relief is one way to deal with it - but it’s about representation and I want more body positivity) and cliches (about boys and girls) and not enough digging into the deep. Whenever Kaling explored something she finds funny the book is at its best , but I always had the feeling that she didn’t go to the ground of things, didn’t describe as much as I wanted or elaborated scenes and moments. It’s a pity, cause she is wonderful! 💜
