Illuminae
von Amie Kaufman, Jay Kristoff
"It certainly filled the Battlestar Galactica-shaped hole in my heart." --Victoria Aveyard, bestselling author of The Red Queen Read the New York Times bestselling blockbuster that critics are calling "out-of-this-world awesome." The first in an epic sci-fi series unlike anything else out there. Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the worst thing she'd ever been through. That was before her planet was invaded. Now, with enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra are forced to fight their way onto one of the evacuating craft, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit. But the warship could be the least of their problems. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet's AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their biggest threat; and nobody in charge will say what's really going on. As Kady plunges into a web of data hacking to get to the truth, it's clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: Ezra. Told through a fascinating dossier of hacked documents--including emails, schematics, military files, IMs, medical reports, interviews, and more--Illuminae is the first book in a heart-stopping, high-octane trilogy about lives interrupted, the price of truth, and the courage of everyday heroes. A fantastically fun ride." --MTV.com Don't miss the rest of the series! The Illuminae Files_02: GEMINAThe Illuminae Files_03 -- title to be revealed!

4,5 ⭐️ I’ve never read a book like this. Everything is described in files, interviews, chats and surveillance footage. That makes it really challenging to read, but is also very unique and fascinating. At first I was concerned how the authors would create real emotions this way, but somehow they did. It just took a little time. ♡ In the first half of the book I had a hard time orienting myself in the setting and getting to know the characters. Ezra seemed like a nice and funny guy from the beginning (someone I would definitely never have dumped). Kady on the other hand was more shallow and I could really grasp her personality. That is until the end, when I really really loved her, but see for yourselves. ♡ The writing was full of sarcastic remarks and very entertaining, but I expected nothing less. The plot needed some time to develop so I only got invested in the story halfway through the book. But then it blew me away! Sour think you know where this is going (at least kind of), because that’s how things are done in Sci-Fi books and then… everything goes sideways. And nothing turns out as you expected it to. ♡ I loved the ending, though I still anticipated some of the twist (but there are enough left to keep me on the edge of my seat). I find it most impressing that I really had to cry at one scene - I would have never thought this possible while simply reading through files. But it is not that simple. ♡ I am looking forward to reading the sequel, because I am still missing some explanations.
I needed some time at the beginning, but the ending is amazing.
OMG!!! I'm not sure I can even find the right words for this Awesomeness that calls itself 'Illuminae'. Reading it was one hell of a ride and I was just not able to put it down. The story is gripping, suspenseful and unique, especially in the way it is told. One of the things why I liked it so much. Sometimes it had me staring in disbelief at the pages and it got me laughing and crying and simply every emotion inbetween. Normally I'm not such a big fan of Sci-Fi stories, but this one is sooooo good. Definitely one of the best books I've read this year ❤️
I honestly don't know what to think about this book. It was a really exhausting read. I liked things, and I didn't like things. The revelation at the end was pretty good and some pages around the middle, but the beginning was complicated and I throughout the book I just couldn't get warm with Ezra. I liked Kady though.<br/>Maybe I will listen to the audiobooks of the sequels someday, but I won't buy the physical book again.
