Rezension von EstherI finally started to really like Bryce and Hunt in this book. Bryce wasn't always a badass, and I liked that the characters didn't always make the right decisions. This can be annoying, but it also makes them more realistic. All of this leads to the final battle. There are some surprises and unexpected twists, and the plot flows along nicely. I got through it much faster than the previous books, so I think it's the best book in the Crescent City series for me, although it's not as good as S. J. Maas's other series.
Rezension von FabiI'm sorryyyyy, aber Crescent City ist einfach nur messy. 😶 Und ehrlich gesagt hab ich Angst, was das für ACOTAR 6 bedeutet. Es ist unerträglich, dass jede Figur immer nen coolen Spruch auf den Lippen hat, egal wie aussichtslos eine Lage ist. Wobei: wenn ich wüsste, dass jede noch so tödliche Situation komplett ohne Konsequenzen ändert, ich auf alle Rätsel innerhalb von wenigen Seiten eine Antwort finde und niemand mir für meine einfach nur dummen Entscheidungen wenigstens mal ne Ansage macht, dann würde ich auch nur rumblödeln. Dazu kam, dass sich das letzte Drittel gezogen hat wie Kaugummi. 200 Seiten weniger (und vielleicht auch 2-3 POVs weniger) hätten der Story gut getan. Bleibt nur zu hoffen, dass mir die Reihe schlicht nicht taugt. Und nicht an SJMs Lektor*innen... 😕

Rezension von LinaOmg. I did it. 2 years and 3 months later I finished all current Maasverse books (and I can‘t wait for the next ACOTAR book to continue my journey in the Maasverse). It was a wild ride for sure and I loved it so much! Especially reading them in a buddy read made it such an intense and unique experience, I really recommend it. CC3 is sadly one of my least favorite SJM books. The pacing felt off, with some parts of the book being completely boring, while others were crammed with multiple action sequences happening simultaneously but still completely separate from each other. At the same time, some characters didn’t seem to truly follow their established personality traits, which made them feel inconsistent. The spice also didn’t really work in this book. Idk what it is about CC, but spice in this series is always kinda weird. Ithan turned into my absolute hate character of all Maasverse. He‘s so useless and whiny and constantly decides to actively let his friends down?! Jesus my guy, get over yourself. Also Tharion became kind of an unpleasant character for me. I loved him in CC1, liked him in CC2 but towards the end of CC2 he just made one stupid decision after another and it doesn’t get any better in CC3. Not very keen to see more of him in the next book. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the ending. It’s classic SJM style. For me, the series could easily end right there, and I’d be happy with how all the different character arcs wrapped up.
