Ich weiß gar nicht, was ich sagen soll. Noch nicht. Das war krass. Und ich verstehe wirklich keine einzige schlechte Review…

Omg. I did it. 2 years and 3 months later I finished all current Maasverse books (and I can‘t wait for the next ACOTAR book to continue my journey in the Maasverse). It was a wild ride for sure and I loved it so much! Especially reading them in a buddy read made it such an intense and unique experience, I really recommend it. CC3 is sadly one of my least favorite SJM books. The pacing felt off, with some parts of the book being completely boring, while others were crammed with multiple action sequences happening simultaneously but still completely separate from each other. At the same time, some characters didn’t seem to truly follow their established personality traits, which made them feel inconsistent. The spice also didn’t really work in this book. Idk what it is about CC, but spice in this series is always kinda weird. Ithan turned into my absolute hate character of all Maasverse. He‘s so useless and whiny and constantly decides to actively let his friends down?! Jesus my guy, get over yourself. Also Tharion became kind of an unpleasant character for me. I loved him in CC1, liked him in CC2 but towards the end of CC2 he just made one stupid decision after another and it doesn’t get any better in CC3. Not very keen to see more of him in the next book. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the ending. It’s classic SJM style. For me, the series could easily end right there, and I’d be happy with how all the different character arcs wrapped up.

Loved the book, loved the series, loved the characters and enjoyed this story so much in the end. ** still, something holds me back from giving it 5 stars. i think i just felt like some things went too easy - of course bad stuff happened to all of them, most of all the dungeons or all that shit with ithan and tharion - but it sort of always turned around too fast for my opinion i guess? even though this is weird to say because my brain just can‘t take everything going to shit but after all it needs to do that to stay „realistic“ enough, even for books with fantasy in them. but after all i LOVED the bryce/nesta scenes, even though i had my troubles with nesta an ACOSF for a long time, i really loved her in this book. i also love bryce, she‘s a badass and i especially love all that feminism she brings to the world - my only problem with her i guess is that she is too similar to aelin in my opinion - as if sjm just put a different version of aelin in this book. i would have liked bryce to be a little more different and unique. bryce and hunt together - loved it. i loved how it wasn’t all perfect, as they had many small conflicts but they each stood their ground and had an understanding for eachothers way of thinking nonetheless. as for all the other characters and their „pack of all species“ - i liked it a lot! unsursprisingly i loved ruhn and lidia and their development in themselves but also towards each other - and i really liked the way the whole kids story played out, because it seemed realistic. out of the others i think i loved ithan the most - he was so troubled and so lost but tried to always fight his way back - without disregarding all of the things he did or didn’t do - he did great in the end. and the princes of hel - loved the way they worked together to destroy the asteri - and i really love aidas! but after all, i‘m scared for a future fourth book or even the possibility of a marvel like series where the whole universe gets together - because i don‘t think hel being the heroes is gonna be the end of story and i really don’t want to hate aidas in the future. so for now - i‘m done with sjm universe - i‘m so sad about letting it go for the time being, but also excited for more to come.
