Celaena, or should I better call her Aelin, has sailed to Wendlyn in order to kill the King and his heir but Celaena wouldn’t be Celaena if she hadn’t a mind of her own. Instead of following the king’s order she’s going her own way, after all she is Aelin Ashryver Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen and she can do as she pleases. We get to know her past. We get to know what happened to her parents and how they were killed and how she fled and ended up in Adarlan and in Arobynn’s hands. Going back into her past rips open a lot of wounds and bring the suffering back. There was a reason why she has been hiding her true identity these past 10 years. But Celaena is not only in Wendlyn to follow the Kings rule, but also to find the answer about the Wyrdmarks that hold the power to kill the King of Adarlan. That information knows her great-grand-aunt, and a queen of Doranelle, Maeve who is the Fae-Queen. But in order to be taken to the queen she first has to train her magic with Rowan who is taking her to Mistward for that. Rowan Whitethorn is not only a Fae warrior, he’s also very handsome and hot! “Tall, broad-shouldered, every inch of him seemingly corded with muscle, he was a male blooded power.” Waking her magic is not as easy as it sounds. Celaena hasn’t used it in many years and it’s physically and mentally exhausting and painful for her. Rowan is intransigent and keeps pushing her to her limits. She’s definitely not treated nicely and he seems like a total ass, but he also has his reasons for it. At some point she succeeds and then she’s burning. I really like how the relationship between them develops. They are friends and still so much more. It’s nice to see how much they learn to care for each other despite the pain both suffered. Of course none of those stubborn heads would admit that per se. “I claim you, Rowan Whitethorn. I don’t care what you say and how much you protest. I claim you as my friend.” Many things happen in Adarlan too. There are many new characters so let me shortly list: Sorscha – healer and new love interest of Dorian. You can see this right from the beginning Aedion – Prince of Wendlyn and Aelin Galathynius’s cousin Manon Blackbeak – an Iron Witch. Chaol is more or less joining a rebel group that works against the king and to free magic while Dorian is trying to stifle his own and hide it from his father. Sorscha is helping him with that and it seems that she’s so much more than just a healer. The Iron Witches and all the others are just super creepy, but I really did enjoy these chapters, too. Duke Perrington tries to rise some kind of dark army and is using the Witches for that. So many good and so many bad things are happening in this book and it’s really hard to remember all but one thing for sure: shit is going down. Celaena is as bad-ass as always, she has to fight against evil monsters and learns that there are more…hundreds….thousands of them to fight. But she will not give up. She will not rest until they are all dead and especially one special monster: the Kind of Adarlan and she wants to take back what belongs to her: the throne. “SHE WAS AELIN ASHRYVER GALATHYNIUS – AND SHE WOULD NOT BE AFRAID” Also, the ending with Dorian kills me. Why…how…my poor little heart!

Ohhhaaaaa dieses Character Development 🫶🏻Sie ist so eine Diva😝😝 Ich finde das war bisher das beste Buch der Reihe, aber die Romance hat mir bisschen gefehlt und es hat sich etwas wie so eine Vorbereitung für den nächsten Band angefühlt, aber sonst 5 Sterne. Ich weiß, das viele das mit den mehreren POVs nervig finden, aber ich fand das irgendwie richtig nice, und ich glaube ohne das wäre es viel langweiliger gewesen. Ich glaube aber, Tog wird eine von meinen Lieblingsreihen💋💋

Hier hat ma das Gefühl, dass die Geschichte erst so richtig losgeht. Die Art wie die Protagonistin zu sich selber findet ist wahnsinnig schön

auch ein starker teil, muss aber sagen dass es ab hier von diesem assassin stil wirklich übergeht zu fantasy, magic usw. und könnte mir daher vorstellen, dass es manchen zu viel wird 🫨 auf der anderen seite wenn ihr bis hier hin gekommen seid könnt ihr eh nicht mehr los lassen!

Ich fand es teilweise schwierig dran zu bleiben, weil es zwischen drei sehr unterschiedlichen POV und Orten hin und her springt. Es fühlt sich auf jeden Fall an wie ein Zwischenbuch, das schon mal ganz viel vorbereitet. Die zweite Hälfte des Buches war dann deutlich besser, inklusive der berühmten letzten hundert bis zweihundert Seiten in einem Fantasybuch, in denen alles drunter und drüber geht.
