Haunting Adeline (Cat and Mouse Duet)
von H. D. Carlton
The ManipulatorI can manipulate the emotions of anyone who lets me.I will make you hurt, make you cry, make you laugh and sigh. But my words don't affect him. Especially not when I plead for him to leave. He's always there, watching and waiting. And I can never look away. Not when I want him to come closer. The ShadowI didn't mean to fall in love. But now that I have, I can't stay away.I'm mesmerized by her smile, by her eyes, and the way she moves. The way she undresses...I'll keep watching and waiting. Until I can make her mine. And once she is, I'll never let her go.Not even when she begs me to.Warning: This book ends on a cliffhanger.Recommended Reading Order for the C&M Universe:Satan's AffairHaunting AdelineHunting AdelineWhere's Molly

Meh
4,5 ⭐️ - ich habs sooo geliebt, obwohl ich finde die protagonistin hat etwas zu schnell klein bei gegeben, finde, da hätte man die tension noch ein bisschen mehr aufbauen können
Die Socke.
I have really mixed feelings about this book. It’s incredibly dark, and at times it crosses into territory that felt more disturbing than entertaining. I understand it’s meant to be a stalker romance, but some scenes, especially the one involving Zade and the gun, were hard to get past. It didn’t come across as edgy or provocative to me, just unsettling and sad. The central relationship is also difficult to reconcile. A character being stalked and assaulted, then ultimately falling in love with that same person, felt unrealistic and uncomfortable. I never found those moments romantic or sexy, just deeply troubling. That said, I can’t deny that it was engaging. I was flying through 200 pages at a time, so it definitely held my attention. But that almost makes it more conflicting, because I feel like I should dislike it more than I do. Zade as a character is also contradictory in a way that’s hard to ignore. He’s portrayed as someone who hunts down sex traffickers, yet he commits similar acts of violence himself. That moral disconnect made it difficult for me to fully invest in him. Overall, it left me feeling uneasy about the message it sends. It leans into the idea that harmful behavior can be excused if there’s attraction or chemistry, which didn’t sit right with me. It makes me wonder how differently this story would be received if the character didn’t fit the typical “dark, attractive” mold.
Es ist sehr Heavy am Ende. Zades POV wurde auf einem Cliff inger gelassen. Kann es kaum erwarten Hunting Adeline zu lesen
