Reviewed by IzzyI’m gonna rate the whole book series before my memory resets. Firstly it was an okay read. I liked the characters a lot especially Zhao Yunlan, who’s very witty and funny, but I also felt like his personality wasn’t just quite clear you know. There were moments where I thought he should act this or that way or react scared and shocked and then he didn’t and I was so confused. What confused me even more was the general plot, there was so much story background that only got kind of explained towards the end and it was just so difficult to follow especially, because you heard the story 3 times but all different. Whom I really liked was Shen Wei, I feel like he was the perfect amount of yearning and desperation. A major point that kind of bothered me were the action scenes. I’m a fan of long and descriptive scenes, but the action scenes in every book were just so… short. The moment something happened and you slowly got more into it, it was already over. That was kind of unfortunate, as I found the plot really good and interesting and it had so much potential, but the tension just wouldn’t build up entirely. All in all it was a good and quick read, I personally wouldn’t say the best book series ever, but a good one.
