Flock by Kate Stewart is one of those books that is so constantly recommended that I was actually a bit nervous to dive in. I don’t usually do well with majorly hyped books, but this one completely surprised me. It is a definite must read especially if you enjoy an atmospheric story that balances a mysterious plot with intense chemistry. The writing has a beautifully satisfying pace and it manages to strike that perfect rare balance between spice and substance. If you are a fan of audiobooks, the narration by Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden is beyond talented. Joe Arden is truly a master at his craft he provides multiple voices that are distinct enough to easily tell each character apart, which made the experience incredibly immersive. I believe this is one of those best if you listen to books. I fell for Sean, one of the mmc's almost as fast as Cecelia did. He is so cryptic that you can actually feel the tension of something he’s hiding it’s a genuine, nervous feeling that keeps you on edge. His outlook on life, the future, technology, and time felt so new and refreshing. He is just super sweet, making it impossible not to want him. Then there is Dominic, the other mmc. He is your typical dark bad boy that we all tend to fall for. While he is very rough around the edges and mostly keeps to himself, you eventually begin to see his feelings deepen for Cecelia as she works her way into his life and brings down his walls. While Cecelia can be a bit whiny or immature at times, it feels expected given that she is very young and new to this world. I’m actually quite excited to see her character development continue to evolve in the next installment. The big plot twist was something I definitely did not see coming. I knew something was going to happen eventually, but never that. My only lingering question involves the "wide stretch" of the Ravens(idk what else to call all them) while I understand the Triple Falls sector being involved, getting other state sectors involved seems like a lot unless there is much more going on behind the scenes. On a side note, I absolutely loved the side characters and I need a story for Tyler so badly! After the infamous lake scene, I was convinced he was the next to enter the fold, but he didn't. I seem to love all the characters in this world. I am surprised I loved this as much as I did given its only told from a single point view, Cecelia. I would love and insight into Sean and Dom's minds. We would learn so much and i would like to know their inner thoughts. I completely understand why we do not get that. If we did it would take away the mysterious aspect and the secrets. I am so excited to continue listening to the next book. I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking for their next obsession. This is one of my rare 5 stars

Only 11 days into the year, and 2026 already has its first serious contender for worst book.

Keine Ahnung was ich von dem Buch halten soll… 70% von dem Buch haben mich so gelangweilt, aber der letzte Part war dann doch noch in Ordnung.. werde Band 2 trotzdem lesen.
