Rezension von kathireads⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️,5 Emily Wildes Encyclopedia of Faeries ist auf so vielen Ebenen ein wunderschönes Buch. Zu erst fällt der einzigartige Schreibstil auf. Wir haben es hier mir Tagebucheinträgen der Protagonistin zu tun, in denen sie über ihre Forschungsergebnisse zu den Faeries berichtet. Ich mochte besonders wenn diese durch das Durchbrechen der vierten Wand oder durch Einträge von anderen Figuren aufgebrochen wurden. Das lässt das ganze wie ein richtiges Tagebuch wirken 🥰! Deswegen geizt die Autorin auch nicht mit wunderschönen Zitaten - ich habe markiert was das Zeug hält 😍 Dazu kommt das Emily Wilde ein ganz tolle Protagonistin ist. Sie hat ihre Eigenarten, handelt oftmals selbstsüchtig und eigennützig und hat trotzdem das Herz am richtigen Fleck. Liebe ja so unperfekte Protagonisten, die im Laufe der Geschichte über sich hinauswachsen <3 Der männliche Protagonist macht das ganze noch besser. Er passt perfekt zu Emily, ist quasi ihr Gegenstück und die beiden sind einfach wie füreinander gemacht. Ich liebe es ja, wenn die FMC etwas eigen sind und dadurch oftmals bei anderen anecken, der MMC sich davon aber überhaupt nicht abschrecken lässt. Die beiden können in der Gegenwart des anderen einfach unentschuldigt so sein wie sie sind und brauchen sich nicht zu verstecken <3 Ich liebe einfach die Dynamik zwischen den beiden und bin so gespannt, wie es in Band zwei weitergeht. Ein großer Pluspunkt ist außerdem, wie das Faerievolk hier dargestellt wird. Die Autorin schafft es die Feen zwar nicht als grundlos grausam, aber trotzdem gefährlich darzustellen. Außerdem beschränken sich die Beschreibungen nicht nur auf „unwiderstehlich gutaussehend“ und „anziehend“, was ich mal als eine willkommene Abwechslung wahrgenommen habe 😂 Die passen auch perfekt in das idyllische, kalte und mysteriöse Setting in den Bergen 🌬️🗻 Einen kleinen Kritikpunkt habe ich allerdings: Die Liebesgeschichte entwickelt sich als sehr langsames, wundervolles Slowburn, was ich ja liiiebe - aber dementsprechend kam der Übergang zu Liebesbekundungen dann doch sehr plötzlich. Ich kann mir aber vorstellen, dass dies durch Emily als unzuverlässige Erzählerin nur so abrupt wirkt und sie vorangegangene romantische Andeutungen einfach nicht als solche interpretiert und aufgeschrieben hat. 👀 Nichtsdestotrotz haben mich die beiden verzaubt und Band zwei steht schon in den Startlöchern 😌
Rezension von lea 🦇While some chapters felt overwritten, i wished for the finale to be longer. I was so close to dnf this book at about 50%, but i really enjoyed the ending. Just like the FMC Emily I slowly started liking Wendell. I hope Emily gets more character depth in the next part. All in all it was a solid 3⭐️ and if you’re really into the cozy fantasy genre you might like it even more than I did.
