City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)
von Cassandra Clare
Discover this first installment of the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series and “prepare to be hooked” (Entertainment Weekly). When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder—much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing—not even a smear of blood—to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy? This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare’s ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

Why you should read „The Mortal Instruments“ - A list: 1. Cassandra Clare‘s writing has earned her the legend status in the Fantasy-world. 2. Jace (the morally grey sarcastic, badass, damaged boyfriend we all want) 3. The Christian mythology that it‘s based on (be able to brag to your friends that you know 10 different angel names - a skill that is never appreciated, but kinda cool in a nerdy way) 4. Magnus and Alec 5. The runes. I‘m still obsessed with them. When I was younger I always wanted to tattoo the Angelic rune on my wrist (original - I know…) and part of me still wants to do it because it is COOL, okay?! 6. Magnus and Alec 7. The way CC barely manages to behold the delicate line between „Oh, they just kissed and they didn‘t know“ and „That‘s fcking incest“ 8. Magnus and Alec 9. She is the only author who (as far as I know) wrote 21 (!!!) (yes, you read that correctly) books about basically the same characters with different names in different timelines and is still successful with every single book 10. Be able to watch a movie and a whole series with three seasons with your friends, pause every couple minutes and then tell them how WRONG it all is (and that the books are SOOOO much better, of course) Okay, but no seriously: read the book and join the club of slightly unhinged booknerds <33 I first read this book when I was…14? And rereading it is always a pleasure that makes me fall in love with the Shadowhunter world all over again and gives me a pang of nostalgia. Will always be one of my all-time-fave book series.
i LOVED the movie growing up, but unfortunately was there only one.. so i decided to finally start the books to find out how it continues (not a fan of the tv show) the book was sooo much better, I loved everything about it!

4.5/5⭐️ The book was a really good start to the series. I'm so glad to be back in that universe. I've seen the series, and it's great to experience everything again. I'm really looking forward to book 2!
