Interesting insights, inspiring person herself, sometimes a little incoherent in her topics and, above all, intelellecually challenging to read (if english is not your native language). But all in all, highly recommended!
incredible honest writing, great insight in her life and aspects, usually not discussed
Listened to audiobook, so it was made so much better by having Michelle actually tell her own story to me
I read this book and it took me a long time to finish. At first, I loved it. It is described so beautifully, that you can almost forget, that it's non-fiction. I am just 16, so maybe that's the reason, why after some time (maybe...page 400) I grew bored and skimmed through the rest. She just had very much to say and it was interesting. I learned a lot about her and a bit about the USA. I will start an exchange year there in August and I kind of hoped to learn a bit about this country and that was great. It just was lengthy and detailed, which was quite hard to finish, when you usually read fiction. But I can really say:Impressive woman, nice work.
It's a memoir, so it makes no sense to talk about what this book is about. In my opinion, it is a very well written, authentic and somewhat thrilling book. I enjoyed every page of it. Even though I knew how Barack's politic journey would eventually turn out, I was never bored, I was even a little excited while reading about the presidental campaign. The whole book is a very intimate and personal summary of their (politic) life, it's honest and authentic and I'd recommend it to everyone who likes the Michelle and Barack as much as I do.
