I really missed the characters a lot, but I kind of expected some more romance from this book. I was carving some cute scenes between Baz and Simon. The book suprised me with a whole other angle, the one where the hero wakes up only to see that the word was successfully safed and he is not needed anymore. Some heros might see their destiny fulfilled, but this was not the case with Simon. He had just lost his purpose and struggled to find or reinvent himself again. Even though I did not get many of those romantic moments, I was pleaseantly suprised with a story nobody expected, but everybody should read sometimes. If you fall down, you don't have to get up right away. It's okay to just lie on the ground and pity yourself for a bit. That's what Simon did and I could completely understand him. I don't know if I would have gotten up again. He has his friends and they aretruly amazing - how I missed Penny and Baz - and together they go on another adventure together. The best part about this book is the writing. After reading the first page I was immediately sucked into the story again and felt and dreamt with Agatha, Baz, Penny and Simon. In this book I got to know Agatha a little better. I didn't particulary like her in the first book and I think I still don't, but at least I understand her a lot better now. This is all due to the different POVs throughout the book (Baz, Simon, Penny and Agatha). I can relate to Penny the most, because I guess we are both know-it-alls and hopeless nerds. Baz also seems to have lost himself a bit, but finds himself again under the stars in America and most importantly with Simon. To see their love for each other flourish on the one hand and unattentend to on the other broke my heart. I would have loved to just scream at them to kiss and make up. But as always them being only fictional characters prevented that. So I had to hope, read and cry a little. This book is very emotional - beware! While the characters and the writing were as always exeptional, the story lacked a little ... purpose. They went on an adventure so there had to be some elements to make it count as one (enemies, fights, romance....), but they were all thrown together randomly. As if the author let some dice decide who could be the enemy, and which obstacles this group of friends should overcome on their journey. Unfortunately characters and writing alone can't carry a whole sequel, when the first book had all the right elements. I hope this will get better in the final and I am also again hoping for some cute Simon and Baz action.

<b>Lo he amado en peores momentos.

<blockquote>"Can I?" he asks. Can you what, Simon? Kiss me? Kill me? Break my heart? "You don't have to ask." I say.</blockquote> So, I finally found out why everyone is kinda disappointed by this and although it didn't quite live up to my expectations either, I can't say that I'm that disappointed. It only made sense to me. I mean, Rainbow said it herself, didn't she? "Simon Snow, your hero's journey might be over but your life has just begun." In this book we're dealing with aftermath of Carry On. When Simon lost almost everything and struggling to find out how to survive after everything. Can you imagine? To be the greatest magician that ever lived and then that magic been all taken from you. To be the one who used to have everything and suddenly become the one who has absolutely nothing! I mean, yeah he has Baz and Penny, and as much as it hurt my feelings to see that Baz wasn't enough for him, after everything that he's been through, can I blame him? Hell no! That being said, Simon and Baz are my cute precious favorite cinnamon rolls. It physically pained me to read their scenes and their miscommunications when I knew how much those dumbass' are in love, but damn Rainbow wrote them poetically! <blockquote>"Simon Snow, it hurts to look at you when you're this happy. And it hurts to look at you when you're depressed. There's no safe time for me to see you, nothing about you that doesn't tear my heart from my chest and leave it breakable outside my body." • "You're so beautiful!" I shout back. He turns the radio down, "What did you say?" "Nothing!" • "I'd give him all that I am. I'd give him all that I was. I'd open up a vein. I'd tie our hearts together, chamber by chamber." • "Act like I've just picked you up. Act like you're enchanted by me. Literally." (ha- act. Someday I'll laugh about this. Someday maybe I'll laugh about my whole awful life.) • "Those fights used to feel so good. It meant getting to look at Snow. Getting his attention. Having a place to hurl all my feelings for him, even if they came out spiked and razor sharp. Fighting doesn't feel good anymore. It feels like breaking something because you don't know how to fix it." • "Why can't you just admit that you'd be happier here?" I raise my voice: "Why can't you see that I wouldn't be happy anywhere without you?"</blockquote> _____________________ May I say how much I appreciate Baz and Penelope's relationship developments? They went from absolutely disliking each other to somehow being a family. <img src="https://64.media.tumblr.com/c9ecb9dd77707c93def7a983c363665b/df79112c3ed4c681-de/s1280x1920/ece644cf6aaac699d5817b6f3e211645b1380880.jpg"description/> <a href="https://www.instagram.com/vkelleyart/">©</a> Same Simon, same! :)) I most of all enjoyed Baz and Agatha's point of views. They're very interesting characters to read from their perspective. (Agatha wasn't this interesting in book one, any one agree with me?) 📢<b><u>Spoiler Alert</u></b>📢 People: A scene can't hurt you! The scene: <img src="https://64.media.tumblr.com/4cbffb309a9f93c80bf15d38470c7661/412651164279d215-96/s1280x1920/946b424a582271b80cadd95aac635ee4b4f641ee.jpg"description"/> I was holding back tears. I was hurt. I heard my heart broke... When Baz said, "Simon... love... get up. I never actually told you how much I love you." I completely lost it. Mission accomplished Rainbow!
