Reviewed by Tobias Im angelsächsischen Literaturbetrieb ist es seit geraumer Zeit sehr verbreitet, etablierte Autorinnen und Autoren mit der Fortsetzung klassischer Krimireihen zu betrauen. Puristen mögen da das Snobistennäschen rümpfen und wider die Verunglimpfung des heiligen Originals predigen. Alle anderen dürfen glücklicherweise von Fall zu Fall selbst entscheiden, ob ihnen das gefällt. Sophie Hannah, eine der erfolgreichsten und vielseitigsten Schriftstellerinnen Großbritanniens, hat mittlerweile insgesamt vier Poirot-Romane vorgelegt. Als echter Fan von Agatha Christies Dandydetektiv darf ich sagen, alle sind gut. Das gilte auch für den hier besprochenen dritten Band. Poirot, der so stolz auf seinen Ruhm, seine kleinen grauen Zellen und sein Genie ist, wird hier mit einer Reihe von Personen konfrontiert, die er - zu unrecht - öffentlich des Mordes bezichtigt haben soll. Nur kennt der Meisterdetektiv die Beschuldigten gar nicht. Während er noch dabei ist, klarzustellen, dass er mit den Anschuldigungen nichts zu tun hat, erkennt er allmählich, dass es sich nicht um einen Scherz, sondern um einen finsteren Plan handelt, der sich da vor seinen Augen entfaltet. Spannend, stimmungsvoll, lesenswert!
