Reviewed by Eike SundermeyerDas erste Buch, welches ich auf Englisch gelesen habe. Dafür war es eine gute Wahl, weil es sehr flüssig, bildhaft und gut geschrieben ist. Allerdings hab ich mich darin bestätigt gefühlt bei meiner Liebe zu Fantasy und Romantasy zu bleiben, weil dieses Buch bis auf die letzten Seiten NICHTS Positives zu bieten hatte. Es fing deprimierend an und zog sich 400 Seiten durch. Nicht unbedingt ein schlechtes Buch, aber ich lese dann doch lieber Bücher, die wenigstens zwischendurch ein paar heitere Momente haben.
Reviewed by Lara RollhausThe Great Alone had me on edge the entire time. I was rooting for Leni to finally live her life, but I was constantly fearing for her mom. The relationship between her parents was so twisted and filled with anger. I cried nearly every time there was a chance for Leni and her mom to escape, but her mom was too terrified to take it. It’s heartbreaking how hard it is for women to leave when they’re living in constant fear. And don’t even get me started on her father—I was so angry at him. Now that I’ve finished it… I love this book. It shattered me, made me cry so many times, and reminded me how unfair life can be. But in the end, it also gave me hope. Kristin Hannah’s writing is absolutely stunning—so immersive and emotional. I felt such a deep connection to the characters, as if I was living through their pain, their love, and their struggles right alongside them. This is a book that lingers, one that stays with you long after you’ve turned the last page. I know I’ll be thinking about it for a long time. Definitely an endless-star read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and more!
