It was quite an enjoying read. I started reading it, not knowing that it was actually based off real people. Until I got to the appendix (though I haven't finished reading it yet). Seeing as I know nothing about US history, I can't decide whether it's accurate or not. The only thing I have against this is of course, the Thomas Edison aspect, because I've read somewhere that Tesla invented electricity, for one. Otherwise, what I got from this is that Doc Holliday is an alcoholic and a sardonic character, what with the amount of times he smiles sardonically. As a beginner in the steampunk genre, it's a fascinating read.
