Reviewed by VorleserColourful depiction of what life tended to be in the south between the age of slavery and liberation. Strong pictures and personalities that holds a variety of black identities and the struggle to live by it in a world that follows the rules of whites. Fascinating that there are basically no whites in this novel but their existence matters the most for the story and the characters.
