Oh my god! This book is so heartbreaking. 🥺 I always cry watching the musical and when reading the books because I feel so much for Eric and think he deserves something beautiful, too. The beginning of this book broke my heart. 💔 Eric is rejected by everyone simply because of his appearance. He experiences so much hatred and disgust throughout his life that it ultimately makes him the person we know. I love Susan Kay's writing style—the book is such a good read. Every person Eric has ever encountered gets a voice and tells their side of the story. This is how we also learn where Eric learned all his skills. I loved this book so, so much. 🩷 I'm a huge Phantom of the Opera and Eric fan. I just want to hug Eric and never let him go. What I loved about the end of the book was that Eric, or rather his presence, will never truly be gone. However, I would have liked to know exactly what happened to Eric in the end. The ending is only written from Raoul's point of view.
