Former Detective Superintendent Jimmy Pibble, long since retired, suffers a massive stroke and ends up a bemused resident of a luxury nursing home. He is not bemused for long, however, as the residents begin to die off and not of natural causes. One windy night Pibble is interrupted in the process of taking his own life when he stumbles upon a corpse. As he is drawn further into the inquiry, his mental and physical acuity returns.
