Eine süße Young-Adult-Ice-Hockey-Romance mit tollen Charakteren, einer schönen Entwicklung und ganz viel Gefühl. Was mir besonders gut gefallen hat, waren die Charaktere. Beide wirkten für mich sehr authentisch und stimmig. Ihre Persönlichkeiten waren nachvollziehbar und ich hatte nie das Gefühl, dass sie nur so handeln, weil es für die Geschichte gerade praktisch ist. Gerade ihre Entwicklung und die Dynamik zwischen ihnen haben mir sehr gefallen. Bailey ist mir dabei besonders ans Herz gewachsen. Sie ist eine unglaublich starke junge Frau, die durch ihre letzte Beziehung einiges mitgemacht hat und sich ihr Selbstvertrauen Stück für Stück zurückerarbeiten muss. Besonders schön fand ich, dass dieser Prozess nicht überspitzt dargestellt wurde. Man merkt richtig, wie sie langsam wieder lernt, ihren eigenen Gefühlen und ihrer Wahrnehmung zu vertrauen – und dadurch auch wieder Vertrauen in andere Menschen aufzubauen. Diese Entwicklung hat sich für mich sehr echt angefühlt und ich mochte es sehr, Bailey auf diesem Weg zu begleiten. Und dann ist da natürlich Chase. Auf dem Eis der harte Verteidiger mit Bad-Boy-Image, abseits davon aber gefühlt die größte Green Flag überhaupt. Gerade dieser Gegensatz hat mir unglaublich gut gefallen. Sobald er mit Bailey zusammen ist, zeigt er eine ganz andere Seite von sich und die beiden zusammen waren für mich einfach unglaublich süß. Somit hat mit ihre Beziehung an sich sehr gefallen, weil sie nicht als perfekt dargestellt wird. Beide haben ihre eigenen Probleme und Unsicherheiten und müssen lernen, miteinander umzugehen. Besonders schön fand ich, dass Vertrauen hier nicht einfach plötzlich da ist, sondern sich langsam entwickelt. Ein kleiner Kritikpunkt war für mich das Tempo. An manchen Stellen hat sich die Geschichte etwas gezogen. Über längere Zeit war alles sehr „perfekt“ und ich habe schon darauf gewartet, dass noch etwas passiert. Der Spannungsbogen wurde für meinen Geschmack dadurch etwas zu lange gehalten. Dafür hat mir die Auflösung am Ende sehr gut gefallen. Das Problem wurde nicht unnötig dramatisiert, sondern für mich sehr stimmig gelöst. Auch Nina-Carissima Schönrank und Michael Borgardt haben als Sprecher:innen gut gepasst. Ihre Stimmen haben für mich wunderbar zu den Charakteren gepasst und die Geschichte angenehm zum Leben erweckt. Insgesamt hatte ich wirklich eine schöne Zeit mit „Offside“. Aufgrund des stellenweise etwas langgezogenen Tempos sind es für mich 4,5 Sterne. Eine schöne Ice-Hockey-Romance über Liebe, Vertrauen und die Frage, wie man nach schlechten Erfahrungen wieder lernt, sich selbst und anderen zu vertrauen. Und Bailey und Chase? Die beiden waren einfach richtig schön zusammen. Vielen Dank an NetGalley und den Verlag für das Rezensionsexemplar. Offside hat sich definitiv ein Platz in meinen Top 10 Büchern für dieses Jahr verdient.
