This was quite a tough journey through grief, rage, devastating events, ripped worlds, and death, but I closed this book on its last page feeling happy to have spent all this time with the whole series, being all in all blessed with a story about two fated souls, two outstanding characters who vowed never to be without one another. It’s also a story about incredibly loyal people who sacrifice a lot—sometimes all of themselves—people who made terrible mistakes but are capable of rising from them. This finale didn’t quite satisfy me as much as some of the other five books in this series. I think mostly because it didn’t give me the same kind of rampage as others, or the same tension-filled love, nor did it deliver the same level of cruelty lived through antagonists as some of the previous characters were meant to slay. But I wholeheartedly appreciate meeting all my beloved characters one last time, spending more time with some newer, lovely characters, getting answers to most of my long-lasting questions, and gaining a deeper understanding of storylines stretching from the very first books to the end. I loved the pieces snapping into all the right places, although the timing felt a bit off at times. I really loved the plotting and the writing style. The huge number of multiple POVs felt a bit demanding, but I appreciated the benefits of it. It wrapped up the fast-paced plot well, throwing the reader back and forth between realms and perspectives, delivering a very detailed timeline of events across all places without missing anything. And with this last installment, I think the author improved her writing style once more. She managed to give this finale a more poetic depth than before, which quite eased the pain of saying goodbye to this incredible world. Wishing to meet them again someday, I wish Auren and Slade and all their family members—by blood or by choice—all their one days, happily.

3-3,5 Sterne Leider bin ich mit dem finalen Band nicht so richtig warm geworden. Es war zwar super spannend und wieder toll geschrieben, aber ich habe nicht so mitgefiebert wie ich es bei den Bänden davor getan habe..war emotional nicht ganz so verbunden wie sonst. Ich weiß aber nichtmal, ob das wirklich am Buch lag oder an mir

Good ending to a great series

»Goldfinch« war ein emotionaler Abschluss für eine Reihe, die ich echt ins Herz geschlossen habe! Trotzdem muss ich sagen, dass ich etwas mehr von diesem finalen Band erwartet hatte - vor allem was das Ende angeht. Die Charakterentwicklung von Auren, Rissa und Malina war wieder absolut großartig. Ich liebe die Frauen dieser Reihe und vor allem auch deren Freundschaften. Rissa und Auren? Ich liebe die zwei so sehr 😭! Deren Reunion hat mich mindest so sehr getroffen, wie die von Auren und Slade (wenn nicht sogar noch mehr). Ich hätte mir wirklich gewünscht, dass die beiden zusammenarbeiten und sich die gemeinsamen Szenen nicht nur auf das Ende beschränken:(. Die beiden, aber auch viele andere Momente haben mich so oft emotional erwischt, dass ich regelmäßig (Freuden)tränen in den Augen hatte. Die Figuren haben sich einfach so in mein Herz geschlichen. Natürlich hatte dieses Buch wieder viele epische Kämpfe und aufregende Momente, die ich alle richtig gefeiert habe. 😍 Trotzdem sind die Bösewichte irgendwie sehr flach geblieben. Ich kann bei beiden kein wirkliches Motiv erkennen und deren Ableben war dann für ein Finale doch recht fix. Midas hatte zumindest noch Tiefe, war herrlich unausstehlich und hatte Charakter - er wäre glaube ich als Endbösewicht der Reihe deutlich eindrucksvoller gewesen. Und beim Ende bin ich ehrlich gesagt auch ziemlich verwirrt und skeptisch. Das war überhaupt nicht rund und wirkte wie ein Aufgeben der Figuren. Die einzige logische Erklärung wäre ein Spin-Off, denn sonst wirkt das Ende unvollständig und vor allem für einige Figuren unglücklich. Und WARUM musste die allerletzte Szene nochmal eine Smut-Szene sein? Fand ich an der Stelle echt überflüssig und ehrlicherweise unangenehm. Alles in allem werde ich die Welt und ihre Figuren trotzdem enorm vermissen. Die haben mich jetzt zwei Jahre begleitet und ich habe es geliebt deren Entwicklung zu verfolgen. ❤️‍🩹
