Frida Kahlo an Dr. Eloesser: „So wirst Du verstehen, dass ich – endlich – gelernt habe, dass das Leben eben so ist und dass alles andere nur ,gemaltes Brot‘ [Illusion] ist. Wenn es mir gesundheitlich besser ginge, könnte man sagen, dass ich glücklich bin, aber dass ich vom Kopf bis zu den Füßen ein solches Wrack bin, bringt manchmal meinen Verstand durcheinander und lässt mich bittere Momente durchleben.“
