Editor Eric Holmes brought the rules scattered through the numerous booklets of original D&D, simplified, clarified, and written for 1st through third level characters. Set contains (depending on the version, as this Basic Set was in print for several years) the Basic Rulebook, a module (either B1 - "In Search of the Unknown" or B2 - "Keep on the Borderlands"; very early printings will have Dungeon Geomorphs instead of the module) and polyhedra dice or numbered chits.
