Reviewed by KaiAuch wenn der Anfang sehr langsam ist, hat mir das Buch gut gefallen. Vor allem die Abschnitte aus Emilia haben einen gespannt gelassen und erschreckend das Leben im 16. Jahrhundert einer Frau dargestellt. Mit den Auszügen von Melina dazwischen, erkennt man erschreckender Weise, dass sich in 400 Jahren wenig verändert hat für Frauen in der Theater Szene. Jodi Picoult verbindet die beiden Zeitstränge so wahnsinnig gut und äußert hier mitunter romantischen Passagen sehr klare Kritik an der heutigen Gesellschaft. Und beantwortet letztendlich die Frage - war es wirklich Shakespeare, der sich selbst zum Erfolg verholfen hat?
