Thank you!!! :) A Time of Torment is the second book I’ve read by John Connolly, the first being Nocturnes, and I realize I’ve been missing out on a great author. This book is an eloquent, absorbing and impressively fulfilling book. Connolly is a superb storyteller, first and foremost. His creates prose which is both simple and elegantly constructed. He wanders off into tangents dealing with the locality and personal history of his settings and characters, and this really draws me into the story. Connolly really does extensive research, and he likes to share what he has discovered. Connolly tells a story well and it is a joy to read any of his books. I’m determined to read the Charlie Parker series in its entirety.
