Slatter düstere Folklore, vielschichtige Charaktere und eine Geschichte, die bereits nach kurzer Zeit mitreißt auf eine Art, die sowohl sprachlich als auch symbolisch ein wenig an Angela Carter erinnert. Dieser “grumpy menopausal witch in the woods novel” war von Beginn an eine (manchmal morbide) Freude und hat auch im weiteren Verlauf nicht nachgelassen. Mein erstes Buch von Slatter und ganz sicherlich nicht das letzte.
