Rezension von KateI went into this with pretty much no expectations and it still disappointed me. The premise and the comparision to the Fear Street movies led me to believe this would be a fun quick read but at some point I was just waiting for it to end. Still giving it 2 stars since I did enjoy the setting and the writing in some scenes. It took way too long for anything to happen considering how short the book is. While I didn't expect huge suprises or plot twists since the book seemed (and is) very similar to most bad slasher media, the ending and "ultimate reveal" still made me scoff in annoyance. I mean, I went into this specifically for the clichées of the genre, how am I still disappointed? Additionally, some of the pop culture references and slang used nearly made me dnf the book immediately. I promise you, no teenager genuinely uses the phrase "alphabet mafia" to describe their sexuality. I'm actually quite proud of myself for picking the book back up after reading some of Charity's inner monologue and the way some of the characters talked to eachother. Especially the sentence "I want to clap some cheeks" stuck in my mind until the very end. I know I'm not part of the target audience for this anymore, but I find it hard to believe that even it would actually enjoy the way the characters talk.

Rezension von Leonie BrandAs a horror movie lover, I was expecting a quite typical „teenagers are in a summer camp and a Jason type of guy tries to kill them”. The book isn’t that, which in my case would’ve made me usually very happy and glad. Sadly I just really disliked the storyline about the owls and found it rather confusing than interesting. Still, I am a 100% sure there are people out there happy about having a storyline that isn’t a typical 80’s horror movie.

I couldn‘t see the plot coming but it was terrifying great and sad at the same time i won‘t spoil anyone who wants to read it but the epilouge and the end were so beautiful. Charity and Brezi are together and i loved that. Also the characters were so well written and tw if you want to read this book you should check them. Tw: death rituals/sacrificial animal death really graphic I‘d say that are the tw for this book but i absolutely loved it and the writing style is fascinating. Definetely a 5/5⭐️ As i said if u like horrormovies GO READ THIS BOOK BESTIE!!
