When Charmian Daniels impulsively buys a weekend cottage in the picturesque village of Brideswell, she hopes it will provide a refuge from the demands of her job as police Inspector. But murder seems to follow Charmian: not only has Brideswell had more than its share of sudden deaths recently, but part of a young woman's body is soon discovered near Charmian's new house.
