Rezension von CaroIch habe erst 24% des Buches gelesen aber ich kann mich nicht durchringen, es weiterzulesen. Ich hatte mich eigentlich sehr auf das Buch gefreut und bin dementsprechend enttäuscht. Gráinne Ni Mháille ist eine so spannende, historische Figur und Ariel Lawhon wird ihr leider nicht gerecht. Der Sprachstil ist einfach nur furchtbar. Im Irland des 16. Jahrhunderts hat man wohl kaum wie in den 1990ern gesprochen. Die Dialoge klingen wie eine schlechte amerikanische Imitation von Derry Girls. Es fehlt nur noch der Leprechaun und das Shamrock um die Klischees aus amerikanischer Sicht komplett zu machen Normalerweise lese ich keine Romane über europäische Geschichte von amerikanischen Autor:innen aber Lawhon hat sehr gute Rezensionen für ihre Bücher und ich wollte dem Ganzen eine Chance geben. In Zukunft bleibe ich bei europäischen Autor:innen, wenn es um historische Persönlichkeiten und Romane geht.
