Gave me total Suits vibes! Some parts dragged a bit, but I really felt for the characters.
- DNF at 20% - I'm sorry, but I just can't take it any longer. I know I said I can't dnf books because I'm a perfectionist, but I'll make an exception for this one because it is just too painful to continue. 1) First off: When did being an entitled, rude man-whore become a cool thing? Like...Drew is a walking red flag in sooooo many aspects. Mr. "I have a different girl every night and don't even offer breakfast because I'm too important with my suit and my fancy pants and I just like Blondie because she has a nice ass". He gives me the ick on soooo many levels. I just really can't with his cockiness. 2) Can we talk about Drew having an orgasm while eating a fvcking cake?!?!??!?!?!?!?!? WHAT THE HELL DID I READ? I want to delete that scene from my head and never think about it again. I'm cringing rn just remembering it. Ew. Ew. Ew. 3) There were so many scenes that were copy-pasted from other movies and series. We had a lot of "Suits"-references (aka his secretary being Donna and having literally all of her traits). We even had an "Iron Man" reference (his secretary buying herself a gift from him and thanking him). There is something called original ideas. Some authors should honestly try it because I feel we have reached a point where rom-coms just reuse old stuff in wrong places. 4) There is just something about authors calling female figures "Blondie" for 15% of the book that makes me mad. I never read about female figures calling their male counterparts "Blondie" or "Brownie" and it just drives me nuts because it just shows us how they want us to see the female character: As a cliché. Its degrading. The Blondie that got the successful man. Lucky her. And oh wow! She has a British accent. Banger! Nahh this book wasn't for me. I apologise if my words were harsh, but I won't apologise for not liking it and not wanting to know how it ends.
