Rezension von JuliaPleiti and Mossa, Watson and Sherlock, cozy and adventurous - it is quite lovely to be back on Giant, the unwelcoming gas planet, where everyone loves knowledge and hates being uncomfortable (or so I thought). The story didn’t interested me that much and I lost the grasp of the narrative several times. But: Olders eloquent style and her cool, nerdy characters make for an excellent read. Albeit: I am going to read the next episode in autumn/ winter, because that fits much better to the gloomy atmosphere (huh pun intended). PS: Martha Wells gave this 5 stars, because in this world people can go to an MURDERBOT-opera! Please sign me up for that! “I laughed with her and the morning felt fresh despite my exhaustion, Valdegeld’s antique streets sparkling with possibilities: festivals, cream teas, friendship, etching exhibits, opera, the solutions to all mysteries, and true love. The elation of escaping the memorial service, doubtless, but I enjoyed it all the same.” “Seeing her settle herself, and being still chilled from my walk home, I rang for tea and scones. Warm and comfortable, sipping and nibbling while she talked, nodding as she told me her theories, I felt an unexpected flow of domestic contentment, a sense of comfort…” “The father of Strevan lived in a type of construction known as a hobbit house, presumably because no matter how vague your grasp of Classical literature, that still sounded cozier than bunker. It was built into an artificial slope in the plateau, and the door, I was disgusted to see, wasn’t even round.”
